If you want to take a screenshot on a Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer,  you can use several methods. 

 Whether you want to record the entire screen or just part of the screen, we've rounded up all the best ways to take  Windows screenshots.

The Print Screen button

The easiest way to take a picture of your entire screen in Windows 10 or Windows 11 is to press the Print Screen (PrtScn) button on your keyboard. 

 

 The screenshot will be copied to your clipboard or you can save it to your screenshots folder. To save the file, paste the screenshot into any program that allows you to insert images, such as Microsoft Word or Paint. 

The Windows key + Print Screen

To take a screenshot in Windows 10 or Windows 11 and automatically save the file to the Screenshots folder, press  Windows key + PrtScn. Your screen will go dark and a screenshot of your entire screen will be saved to a folder.

Alt + Print Screen

The Windows 10 Snip & Sketch app is the best way to take screenshots on Windows if you want to customize, annotate, or share your screenshots. It's the best way to annotate your screenshots before sharing them, as it gives you editing capabilities like  eraser,  ruler, and cropping tools. 

 

 To activate Snip & Sketch, use the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + Shift + S. Your screen will go dark and a small menu will appear at the top of the screen, giving you the option to snap a rectangular window. freeform or full screen capture.

After taking a screenshot, it will be saved to your clipboard and a preview message will appear in the lower right corner of your screen.

 Screenshots and video clips recorded by the Game Bar are saved in PNG and MP4 formats and you can find them in the Video > Captures folder in File Explorer. You can also find them in the Game Bar Gallery by clicking View My Snaps > View My Snaps below the Screenshots and Record buttons in the Capture menu.
